Dr. Hickson Barez served as a court-appointed 730 Child Custody Evaluator for more than 20 years. That forensic background means families dealing with divorce, custody, or reunification have access to forensic-level expertise alongside clinical care.

Getting to our office from Torrance.

From the Del Amo Fashion Center area

Head south on Hawthorne Boulevard for approximately one mile. Our building is at 25550 Hawthorne Blvd, on the east side of the street, just south of the Hawthorne and Sepulveda intersection. The drive takes about 3 minutes.

From PCH / South Torrance

Take Hawthorne Boulevard north from Pacific Coast Highway. Continue past Newton Street, and our office building will be on your right. The drive from Torrance Beach is about 5 minutes.

Parking

Free parking is available in the structure adjacent to our building. There is no need for meters or street parking. Take the elevator or stairs to the third floor, Suite 316.

Yes. Our building at 25550 Hawthorne Blvd, Suite 316, has a free parking structure directly adjacent to the building with plenty of spaces available throughout the day. You won't need to worry about meters or street parking. The entrance to the parking area is clearly marked from Hawthorne Boulevard.
Which Torrance neighborhoods do you serve?+
We serve families from all Torrance neighborhoods, including Old Torrance, the Riviera Village area, Seaside, Southwood, Hollywood Riviera, West Torrance, North Torrance, and the Del Amo area. Many of our clients also come from adjacent communities like Lomita, Harbor City, and Gardena. Our office on Hawthorne Boulevard is centrally located and easy to reach from any part of the city.
Do you work with Torrance Unified School District (TUSD) on evaluations?+
Yes. Dr. Hickson Barez has worked with TUSD families for over 30 years and understands how the district handles IEPs, 504 plans, and Student Study Team meetings. Our psychoeducational evaluation reports are written to be actionable within the TUSD system, and Dr. Hickson Barez regularly attends school meetings to present findings and advocate for appropriate accommodations. We can also serve as an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) provider when families disagree with a district assessment.
Do you offer telehealth appointments for Torrance families?+
Yes. We offer telehealth for therapy sessions and parent consultations throughout California. Telehealth is a good option for follow-up therapy sessions, parent consultation meetings, and some intake appointments. Psychoeducational evaluations and most forensic services require in-person visits at our Torrance office. We're happy to discuss which format makes the most sense for your situation during an initial phone consultation.
